David Shephard

David Shephard is a proud Portland native whose passion for youth, education, and community leadership spans more than 27 years. Recently retired as an elementary school principal, David’s career in education has been deeply rooted in equity, empowerment, and creating safe, inspiring spaces for students and families.

He holds a Bachelor of Theology from Bishop A. L. Hardy Academy of Theology and has pursued Liberal Studies at multiple institutions, reflecting his belief in lifelong learning. David’s professional journey includes key leadership roles at organizations such as Portland Public Schools, Parkrose School District, Multnomah County Library, Self Enhancement Inc., Albina Head Start, Western Washington University, and Rosemary Anderson High School.

David made history as the first Black administrator in 82 years at Central Catholic High School, where he served as Dean of Student Management, Safety, and Security. His leadership tenure includes 7 years in educational administration and 3 years as a principal.

In addition to his work in education, David has been a small business owner since 2014, running a youth basketball training program in Washington State. He is a passionate advocate for student-athletes and uses sports as a platform to build character, discipline, and community.

A committed vegan, sports enthusiast, and lifelong learner, David now devotes his time to passion projects—including AAU basketball, youth mentorship, and TheOrganicFoodPodcast.

He is blessed to use his gifts and talents to honor God through his service to youth and families.
